Speaker: Honorary Senior Lecturer Rachel Bryant Waugh
Rachel Bryant Waugh is Consultant Clinical Psychologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Child Health, University College London. She is a world expert in feeding and eating disorders in children and adolescents. Her research field encompasses feeding problems in young children, selective eating and other childhood eating disturbances, and early onset eating disorders, in particular anorexia nervosa. Her research includes interventions relevant to feeding and eating disorders in children. She has a special interest in mothers with eating disorders and their children. Rachel Bryant Waugh was the primary architect behind the American Psychiatric Association’s DSM-5 Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), and she is currently involved in the corresponding diagnostic issues of the forthcoming ICD -11. She has won national and international awards including the British Psychological Society’s May Davidson Award for her outstanding contribution to the field of childhood eating disorders. Together with the late Professor Bryan Lask she has been the promotor of The London International Conference on Eating Disorders taking place every two years since 1993, when the meeting was inaugurated by the late Princess Diana. She has published widely and trains and lectures in many countries.
