David Berron has been trained as a psychologist at the University of Bremen with a special focus on clinical neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience. He is about to finish his PhD at the Institute of Cognitive Neurology and Dementia Research (IKND) at the Otto-von-Guericke University and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Magdeburg.
David is interested in the role of medial temporal lobe pathways in human episodic memory, memory impairment in ageing and early stages of neurodegenerative diseases as well as potential interventions such as exercise and cognitive training. He is using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) at 3 and 7 Tesla as well as multivariate pattern analysis techniques (MVPA) to investigate memory networks as well as the role of subregions in the medial temporal lobe and subfields of the human hippocampus. He is also interested in longitudinal assessment of critical memory functions in early Alzheimer’s Disease using mobile approaches.
