Microsoft will still stop updating Windows XP operating system today, April 8 2014. To keep a PC running Windows XP means an increased safety risk . The IT-deapartment therefore ask all who have PCs with this operating system to upgrade to a newer system such as Windows 7.
At the University of Gothenburg there are still about 1500 computers with Windows XP. Several of this PCs are used in laboratory environments , and many of these are found at Sahlgrenska Academy.
What version of Windows do you have?
If you are unsure whether your computer has Windows XP, right-click the “Dator / My Computer ” in the start menu and then choose “Egenskaper / Properties” , here you see what operating system your PC have.
Contact the IT deparment’s Service Desk if you want to upgrade your operating system or have questions. Email at support@gu.se or call extension 2020. You may need to replace an old PC when it doesn’t meet the requirements of a newer operating system .
