The University of Gothenburg Cooperation Prize for 2014 has been awarded to the Center for Education and Research on Addiction (CERA), and its director Claudia Fahlke.
A total of 21 groups and individual were nominated for the prize, and the general standard of nominations was extremely high. The jury was, however, unanimous in its decision to award the Cooperation Prize for 2014 to CERA. Vice-Chancellor Pam Fredman supports the decision.
CERA is a research centre formed in collaboration between the University of Gothenburg, Beroendekliniken at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital, FoU i väst-GR, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, and the Västra Götaland county administrative board.
The research center has today highly developed and extremely well-functioning stable relationships and cooperation not only between the institutions and faculties within the University of Gothenburg, but also with external actors such as the health and medical care system, social services, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and the county administrative board. CERA demonstrates cooperation that has mutuality, has received acceptance, and has proven durability.
CERA stimulates and supports preventative research that lies close to the patient or client, creates possibilities for, and offers education and developmental contexts within care for misuse and addiction. By supporting and participating in the implementation of evidence-based methods in the field, CERA works to strengthen and develop research and education within risk behavior-misuse-addiction in the long term.
The Cooperation Prize was founded in 2010 to encourage activities related to cooperation between the university and the world around us. Employees and students receive acknowledgement for initiatives within cooperation, while their work at the same time becomes known among colleagues and in the wider world. They can in this way function as good examples of cooperation. Students and employees have the right to present nominations for the University of Gothenburg Cooperation Prize 2014.
The prize includes a cash award of SEK 200,000 and is awarded once a year to individuals or organizations within the University who have made significant contributions to increase cooperation between the University and the society around it.
