The Board of the Sahlgrenska Academy has decided to introduce subject representatives for all central subjects taught at the faculty. The subject representatives are to be advisory resources for the development of the subject, and to maintain an overview of the subject’s place in the various educational programs offered by the Academy.
The management at the Sahlgrenska Academy is introducing subject representatives in order to monitor and develop central subjects and to promote the renewal of educational expertise.
“Many of the subjects are not limited to a single institute, but are part of educational programs given at several. The quality of a subject can be more accurately followed by introducing subject representatives, and we obtain a strategic overall view of the needs of the subject at the faculty,” says Dean Olle Larkö.
The head of an institute can propose subject representatives, in some cases after consultation with the head of another institute. The Council for Education presents the case to the Dean, who subsequently appoints subject representatives. The period of service for a subject representative is to be six years.
The decision is based on a proposal from the Council for Education, who appointed a working group consisting of Kerstin Nilsson, Magnus Braide, Agneta Ekman, Peter Lingström and Johanna Börjesson (representative for SAKS).
Appendix 2 to the minutes of the meeting of the Academy Board held on 28 August presents a complete list of the subjects that are to be under the auspices of a subject representative. The protocol is only available in Swedish:
