The intensive work since the negative evaluation of the medical training program has yielded results. The Sahlgrenska Academy is now establishing a special committee for interprofessional learning (IPL), whose task will be to increase cooperation within the faculty profession training to identify and implement IPL elements and examinations.
The part of the examiniation goal relating to collaboration with other professionals in health care has been strengthened with several activities. For example, interprofessional simulation exercises of emergency care situations with students in the nursing program are now being implemented during two days. These simulation exercises are mandatory, starting spring 2015. The exercises also include a formative assessment, a seminar and an examination.
Clinical education departments will be set up at two hospitals that work with the medical training program at the University of Gothenburg. Thus, all students will practice and be examined in teamwork with students in the nursing program starting autumn 2015. Other categories of students will participate in the training element interprofessional learning.
