LECTURE. In 1988, when Martin was 12 years old, he suddenly became ill. His parents got the explaination that he suffered from an unknown illness that gradually broke down his body and that he probably only had a few years left to live. After being unconscious for several years his consciousnes slowly come to life again. But to his horror, he discovers that he can not convey this to the outside world. He is completely silent and his body does not obey him at all.
The lecture will be given Tuesday, May 16, at 14:00-15:30 on Hälsovetarbacken, Building 2, Room 2119. Register by March 24 to karin.mossberg@gu.se. If a large audience registers, the venue might be changed – this will be notified by e-mail to those who are registered.
In this lecture, which caters to all staff and students at the Sahlgrenska Academy, Martin tells his story and how he finally, after several years was “seen” and got professional help. Today he lectures worldwide with the help of his speech synthesizer.
