Each year, a list of the top one percent cited researchers in the world is published, based on data from the Reference and Citation Database Web of Science. The 2017 list consists of 3 538 researchers globally, four of which are active at the University of Gothenburg. Three of them, Kaj Blennow, Karl Swedberg and Henrik Zetterberg are active at Sahlgrenska Academy. Kaj Blennow and Henrik Zetterberg lead the research group for neurochemical pathophysiology and diagnostics. Karl Swedberg is well known for his research on heart failure and myocardial infarction. Henrik Nilsson, is Associate Professor of Biology.
