This seminar is held in English. The Council for Education offers a cup of coffee.
Registration is required – by April 6, to Charlotte Gripenberg.
The Council for Education in first and second cycle programmes at Sahlgrenska Academy has the pleasure of inviting the education seminar with Paul White. The invitation is made in collaboration with the pharmacy program. Dr. White will present the work of renewing the teaching that he performed at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.
During the seminar, Paul White will tell about his experience of introducing active learning at an entire faculty. He will also tell about his experiences of introducing and using “flipped classroom” (“how, what & when” can give students information before lecture and how to prepare them) and how to test the effect of new educational innovations. There will also be time for questions and discussion.
Paul White has, together with Dr. Ian Larson, lead the transition of teaching at Monash Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences to focus on active learning. He has given a number of seminars on this at national and international conferences, and has also received several awards from both his students and his university and from the Australian Government (Australian Government Office for Learning and Teaching; 2015).
Also, together with Dr. Lauren May, Dr. White leads a research lab focused on cardioprotection. Since 2014, the laboratory has received over 1.5 million Australian dollars in funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council in order to develop, with new pharmacology, substances that protect the heart.
