From the next autumn, the education for dental hygienists will be one year longer, to three-year full-time studies, in accordance with a government decision. As the profession has changed, prospective dental hygienists need to be better equipped to meet the new requirements. As a result of the extended education, the examination goals are also changed, with, for example, increased demands on subject-depth and degree of independence. Thus, the student will have better prospects for pursuing further education or research, and the professional dental hygienist will get better opportunities for lifelong learning. Akademiliv returns to this subject after the summer brake.
