Professor Claes Ohlsson at the Institute of Medicine, receives SEK 2 million from Torsten Söderberg’s foundation for research on a new mechanism for regulating body weight. In the project, researchers are working on some of the results presented in an article in the scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) just over a year ago. Put simply, the results indicated that the body has its own kind of bathroom scales, where the body’s weight is registered in the legs, which generates a signal to the brain that we should eat less and keep the weight constant.
